Read Shepherd Project’s discussion of The Case for Christ here.

The only way to Christ is through facts. Facts are our greatest weapon against tyranny, against superstition…

Alison: Who’s Christ? Lee: You know how we read you stories at night? ... We are atheists and we don’t believe in God. We believe in what we can see and touch.

Leslie: I’ve just spent most of my life feeling like God is a million miles away.
Alfie: Oh no, honey, God is not a million miles away, He’s right here, waiting for you to talk to Him.

Leslie: I feel something that has made me more real than anything in my life.

Lee: In times of crisis, we humans tend to seek meaning.

Ray: Whatever this is for Leslie, maybe it’s not such a terrible thing... It brings her comfort. You sure you can’t live with this?
Lee: No! I won’t lose my wife and daughter to something I can’t even reason with!

Ray: Present her with facts and she’ll find a way back to the truth.

Kenny: You’ve got yourself a catch 22. Let’s say you debunk Christianity—how will Leslie live with the man who took away the thing that gives her life meaning? [And if you find it’s true, you debunk science and reason.]

Kenny: Unless you want to spend two years in seminary, I’d go for the jugular—the whole of Christianity hinges on the resurrection of Christ.
Lee: How can you talk about the scientific evidence of resurrection when it’s a miracle?
Kenny: [There are witnesses.]

Scholar: People don’t willingly drink poison for something they know is a lie.

Father Marquez (?): The fact that I benefit from gravity doesn’t lessen the validity of its existence. Just as my dislike for mosquitos doesn’t [diminish their reality].

Father Marquez (?): Christianity has built [these elaborate buildings and traditions on sand] and yet, they’re still standing.

Lee: You’re the one who went and changed. Maybe I wasn’t enough for you and you had to go and find a new man—Jesus. ... I didn’t sign up for this, Les. I want my wife back.

Lee: If you were a ... Jew, you wouldn’t respect that women saw the empty tomb, you would negate your case.
Dr. Craig: Exactly! Maybe the disciples write the truth and let the chips fall where they may.

Dr. Craig: Lee, do you want to know the truth, or is your mind already made up?... When is enough evidence enough evidence?

Alfie: Lee, you wife is not brainwashed. She’s seeking God and I’m trying to help.
Lee: She’s vulnerable and you’re taking advantage of it and it needs to stop!

Lee: “John” it’s also the name of a toilet and a client of a prostitute.

Lee about his father: The guy never cared about me my whole life and now that I have kids, suddenly he wants to be best friends? No.

Lee: Thing of it is, she’s different. She’s actually different. That’s what scares the heck out of me. I miss my wife.

Ray: Les knows full well you don’t approve of this, but she is your wife and she loves you very much. Just makes sure she knows that too.

Leslie: I feel like I’m on this journey to the most amazing place I’ve ever been and I can’t take you. I don’t even know how to tell you about it. I can’t take you with me.

Lee: what if it isn’t true—wouldn’t you want to know before you dedicated your whole life to it?
Leslie: Of course, but what if it is true—wouldn’t you want to know that, too?

Leslie: Faith is the evidence of things not seen... It’s like how I know I love you... I love you more now than I ever have.
Lee: Based on what?
Leslie: Honestly, it’s since I’ve found Christ.

Leslie: My feelings are a valid experience. They’re real to me.

Alfie: What did God promise Ezekiel? I will give you a heart of flesh instead of a heart of stone and I will put my spirit within you.

Without an empty tomb, we’re not even having this conversation.

Dr. Waters: Freud, Nietzsche, Hume... All of them either had a father who died, abandoned or was abusive. In the world of psychology, it’s called a father-wound.

Lee: I can feel you every day between closed doors, trying to change me, fix me up for the Almighty so I’m good enough.

Doctor: Of course they weren’t medical doctors, they were trained killers—and quite good at their job.

Doctor: [If they failed,] they would have been killed themselves.

Doctor: Most impartial [researchers] who take this journey rarely remain so.

Lee: I’m sorry. I missed the truth. I just didn’t see it.
Hicks: You didn’t want to see it.

Ray: The human mind will never get to the bottom of every mystery in the cosmos.
Lee: So you’re saying, even in our disbelief we still take a leap of faith?

Lee: You people and your God, you just talk in circles. You offer just enough.

Kenny, quoting C.S. Lewis (I’ve included the actual quote, though I think he paraphrased): "Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important."

Kenny: Shut up or put up. Write the story. Win or lose. Quit blaming the rest of us.

Lee: Alright God. You win.

Lee: The evidence for your faith, it’s more overwhelming than I could’ve imagined but it wasn’t just the evidence. It was you. You never gave up on me. You never stopped loving me. You never gave up on me, [and neither did God].

Leslie: Believe + Receive = Become
